Cinematic in his approach, Miles Aldridge’s photographs are saturated with color, excess, and sexuality and convey a “Stepford Wife” like narrative. The Pure Wonder #1 is one of Aldridge’s most highly sought-after images and shows an idealized woman eating caviar from her perfectly manicured finger. The bright colors of the image are acidic and eerie yet the styling of the woman is nostalgic of the 1950s, the combination making a captivating contradiction.

Miles Aldridge (British, b. 1964) is recognized for his high fashion photography and has photographed covers for magazines like W, Teen Vogue, The New York Times Magazine, GQ and Harper’s Bazaar. His works are in the permanent collections of National Portrait Gallery, London; the International Center of Photography, New York; Victoria & Albert Museum, London; among others.
